National Planning Policy Framework: respond to the consultation – CPRE

For and on behalf of Little Gaddesden Parish Council

Clerk

Subject: Rural Heritage Society and Consultation on new draft National Planning Policy Framework:  CPRE request

Dear Members

The Government has put out for Consultation a new draft National Planning Policy Framework, which is designed to support its policy on increased housebuilding.  All planning authorities will have to take the new NPPF into account when deciding on applications for planning permission.

The Council to Protect Rural England has asked members (of which the Rural Heritage Society is one) to support its position on the new draft as far as it concerns the Green Belt, rural affordable housing and “Valued Landscapes” –   and the wider countryside.  The Consultation ends at 11.45pm on 10 March 2026 – just a week away.

The CPRE has prepared a webpage explaining the process (you can respond to the Consultation either by email or online) and has suggested answers you can adapt in your response.   Please click on the link below to access the web page.

National Planning Policy Framework: respond to the consultation – CPRE

While Little Gaddesden and our immediate locality is not in the Green Belt, I suggest that all 3 of the CPRE topics are of relevance, particularly as we seem to have been targeted by housing developers and we cannot afford to lose any protection for our rural landscape and open areas within and close to the village.  So please take a few minutes to respond to the Consultation and let the Government know the strength of our feelings.

Best regards

George Godar

Chairman RHS

URGENT Church Road Planning Application – Deadline to respond 3 February 2026

Villagers should be aware that an application has been made by the residents of the occupied land on Church Road for retrospective change of use from agricultural to agricultural and equestrian use ref 26/00047/RET.

The application also seeks approval for maintaining the 2 new structures that have recently been put up. The Parish Council took the view at the January meeting of the Parish Council that it would object strongly to the proposals.

The Parish Council did not agree with a number of aspects of the application which it will address in its objection.

In addition, there was a concern strongly expressed at the meeting about the welfare of the animals currently on site, the untidiness and waste implications and that this was really a first stage towards further development of a site in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a Conservation Area, and where the existing and proposed development disturbs the setting for the Grade 1 Church.

In any case if any villager feels strongly about the what is happening at Church Road, they should also comment on the Dacorum Borough web site where full details of the application can be found under the documents link.

https://planning.dacorum.gov.uk/publicaccess/

using the reference number 26/00047/RET in the search bar part way down the page.

Views must be submitted before the deadline of 3rd February. The more views expressed the better.

If you can’t access the Dacorum Planning Website then please email planning@dacorum.gov.uk quoting reference 26/00047/RET
